In July 2022, we made Georgetown Colorado our three night base for hiking, staying at the Microtel hotel.  Steven, Amanda and Aeris (mini Aussie) came over from the Denver area and joined us for two nights, camping with their truck-top tent.  Weather was excellent overall, no rain during our outings.

Stef and I hiked by ourselves on the travel days.  A short walk along the Continental Divide Trail at Kenosha Pass, made shorter by thunder and lightning!  The only rain we encountered was on the final drive to Georgetown.  On the return drive to ABQ we morning hiked on the Rosalie Trail from Guanella Pass.  Lots of wildflowers at over 11,600 feet, along with views of 14er Mount Bierstadt 14,060 (we hiked Bierstadt in 2011).  Then we saw a big moose wading across a pond at Kenosha Pass.  Fantastic!

On Monday and Tuesday we hiked with Steven, Amanda and Aeris.  Glacial cirque lakes were on the agenda.  Love those high mountain above tree line lakes!  All over 11,000 feet.  Silver Dollar and Murray Lakes were gorgeous, along with quite a few wildflowers.  The next day was King Lake from the top of Rollins Pass, my favorite lake!  Gorgeous. Of course the real "fun" was the drive up to the pass.  14 miles of rough bumpy rocky 4 wheel drive dirt road!

We ate 3 times at the Cabin Creek Brewery right next door to the Microtel.  They had a great patio with dogs allowed overlooking a town lake.  Fine outdoor dining!  Good pizzas, salads, burgers and fries.  Good brews too of course.

A great road trip to Colorado.  A good visit with Steven and Amanda, along with spending a few days in the mountains with high temps in the 70's.
