I led this New Mexico Mountain Club hike to the Ceja Pelon Mesa area west of Cuba (New Mexico!).  The main draw of Ceja Pelon is Petrified wood!  Lots of it!  Huge pieces, very colorful, logs everywhere.  Hard not to walk on the shards everywhere.

It was like two hikes in one, each very different.  After all the petrified wood at the mid-level of the mesa, we made our way to the top.  Here is a sandstone wonderland of colors, layers, stripes and formations.  And of course, panoramic views of the surrounding badlands.
